Seaside luxury: Arquitectonica, Melo Group introduce Aria on the Bay condo tower in Miami

Melo Group has launched sales for Aria on the Bay, a 647-unit luxury condominium in Miami. The bayfront condo will overlook Margaret Pace Park, Biscayne Bay, and the Miami Beach skyline. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-2015, with completion slated for 2017, Architecture Lab reports.

Construction boom lures new class of lenders in Nashville, says JLL

Nashville’s going to look a little different in a few years.

In the upcoming months, a gleaming S-shaped tower will join the city’s burgeoning skyline. Nashville’s SoBro (South of Broadway) neighborhood is home to the new $635 million Music City Center convention center, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the new luxury Omni Nashville Hotel and a bevy of fresh, fashionable bars and restaurants.

SPARK’s newly unveiled mixed-use development references China's flowing hillscape

The firm SPARK has completed designs for a new mixed-use building in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen, designboom reports.

The development is called the Prince’s Building and will provide 770,700 sf of office and retail space. The designs were based off of Shenzhen’s geographic location; on the Nantou Peninsula, Shenzhen is surrounded by water on three sides and wraps around the verdant Danan and Xiaonan mountains.

Construction backlog indicator reaches all-time high in second quarter

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Construction Backlog Indicator (CBI) reached an all-time high in the second quarter of 2014. CBI improved 5.4 percent following a 2.8 percent decline in the first quarter and currently stands at 8.5; up 3.6 percent on a year-over-year basis.
 
"The long-awaited brisk nonresidential construction recovery may be upon us," said ABC Chief Economist Anirban Basu. "Industry momentum was snuffed out by a seemingly endless winter, but the pace of industry recovery has been accelerating ever since.
