Turn your pen-and-paper sketches into digital drawings in seconds with this nifty gadget [video]

It isn't exactly news that technology now allows us to draw and write digitally, but that usually involves the use of a tablet PC and a stylus. Soon, there will be a new option for people who enjoy the physicality of pen and paper.

To use iSketchnote, created by startup ISKN and funded through Kickstarter, users place a piece of paper on the tablet-sized device and write with the special ISKN pen. This pen is equipped with a permanent ring-magnet that tracks your writing or drawing, and automatically transfers it to a connected computer or tablet.

MIT researchers create 'home in a box' transformable wall system for micro apartments

How can you make a 200-sf micro apartment feel and function like a typical studio unit?

That was the objective a team of MIT Media Lab researchers set out to achieve when they invented CityHome, the Swiss Army knife, so to speak, of home appliances and furniture.

As the video below demonstrates, the transformable wall system integrates furniture, storage, exercise equipment, lighting, office equipment, and entertainment systems into a movable, compact unit.

Architect license upon graduation? NCARB aims to accelerate licensing process

The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) Board of Directors has announced their endorsement of the concept of an additional, structured path that leads to licensure in a U.S. jurisdiction.

The new path—licensure upon graduation from an accredited program—would integrate the rigorous internship and examination requirements that aspiring architects must fulfill into the years spent completing a professional degree in architecture.

Incorporating internship and examination requirements into university education, the regulatory organization looks to simplify and shorten the licensing process.
