    The once steady 10% growth rate in healthcare construction spending has slowed, but hasn't entirely stopped. Spending is currently 1.7% higher than the same time last year when construction materials costs were 8% higher. The 2.5% monthly jobsite spending decline since last fall is consistent with the decline in materials costs.

    Undulating roof showcases skylights. Curved glulam timbers form the base for the roof of skylight manufacturer Velux Group's new sales office in Northhamptonshire, U.K., which is sloped to "display" the skylights. The glulam beams span 51 feet across and up to the apex 39 feet high. Together with the purlins, the beams define the shape of the building.

    The industrial facility vacancy rate fell 0.5% to 10.2% in the second quarter of 2005, according to CB Richard Ellis. The national vacancy rate was 11.2% a year earlier and peaked at nearly 12% two years ago. Los Angeles and New York metro areas have the lowest vacancy rates, in the 6.5–7% range.
