Nicknamed the Bow after the river that runs near its site, the 1.7 million-sf, $185 million tower was designed by London's Foster + Partners in cooperation with the Calgary office of Zeidler Partnership Architects.

    Behind an exterior highlighted by floors that project outward at different angles, the new headquarters of Norddeutsche Landesbank in Hanover, Germany, boasts an unusual combination of energy-conservation features. They include a heat-exchange system connected to 120 foundation piles that have embedded plastic tubing — one of the first such applications in Germany.

    Dallas-based architect BOKA Powell is architect for a 214,000-sq.-ft. office building for Computer Associates International in the Legacy Park office campus in Plano, Texas. Houston-based Hines Corporate Properties is developer of the seven-story facility, and Dallas-based Centex is the general contractor. Completion is scheduled for late 2001.
