New Fire Stations In Encinitas

New Fire Stations In Encinitas

August 11, 2010

San Diego, CA – Domus Studio Architects is designing three new fire stations for the city of Encinitas, which recently approved spending an estimated $13.5 million to reconstruct older fire facilities throughout the coastal community.

“Firefighters in Encinitas soon will be better housed and equipped to handle emergencies and natural disasters as these three existing stations are replaced with new, expanded public safety facilities,” said Wayne Holtan, a principal of the San Diego-based Domus Studio Architects.

Explosive suburban growth and gentrification of urban neighborhoods in North County have brought with them a two-alarm need for new and improved stations, said Holtan. “In addition, many older fire stations are showing their age and need to be rehabbed.”

In burgeoning Encinitas, Fire Stations No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 are being replaced in a multiphased design and construction schedule stretched out over the next several years. In addition to the professional design services of Domus Studio Architects, other fire station reconstruction project team members include Douglas E. Barnhart, Inc., construction manager.
