Orlando, Fla. architectural planning and design firm C.T. Hsu + Associates P.A. (CTHA) has entered into an exclusive alliance agreement with global architecture and design firm NBBJ to provide world-class design/planning services for the region's emerging healthcare and science facilities. The alliance combines NBBJ's international reputation for the design and planning of healthcare and science & research facilities with CTHA's knowledge of community needs and established reputation for planning and design expertise in Central Florida.

"From Lake Nona's rapidly growing ‘medical city', including the UCF medical school and other science research facilities, to Orlando Health's $250 million expansion and renovation project and construction of a Health Village around Florida Hospital Orlando, the region's need for superlative design expertise in healthcare and science is greater than ever before," said CTHA President C.T. Hsu, FAIA, LEED AP.

NBBJ is the world's 10th largest design firm according to BD World Architecture and its healthcare practice is consistently ranked among the top five in the world by Modern Healthcare. The firm's work includes collaboration on six of the top 10 US News and World Report Honor Roll Hospitals, including the Cleveland Clinic and Massachusetts General Hospital, as well as work on regional projects such as Florida Hospital Celebration Health. In addition to architects, NBBJ's healthcare practice is comprised of nurses, MBAs, economists, energy experts and policy advisors who bring a complete understanding of how to deliver better health outcomes through design. The firm also has an internationally recognized science & research practice that has designed some of the world's leading research facilities, including the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in the UK.

"We believe the deep skills and broad experiences of our two firms are complementary and uniquely suited to the expanding needs of Central Florida's healthcare and sciences future," said NBBJ Consulting Partner John Pangrazio, FAIA, FACHA. "Our alliance agreement integrates the strategic strengths and knowledge of both firms in a focused and deliberate manner to add value to our mutual clients." The agreement includes establishing a new permanent health care and science-focused design studio in CTHA's Orlando office that integrates NBBJ staff for the benefit of the Central Florida.
