The Springfield Park District has announced its partnership with The Walton Group and Vertegy to assist with the development and sustainable design of Erin's Pavilion, the first of several buildings to be constructed on the 80-acre future home of Edwin Watts Southwind Park. Located south of Springfield, the park is being developed with the goal of serving as a model for park districts nationwide.


Erin’s Pavilion will include a 5,500-square-foot banquet space. The remaining 9,500 square feet of the building will house two oversized bathroom facilities, a catering kitchen, entry hall, administration offices, conference room, storage, and electric and mechanical rooms. Erin's Pavilion is currently tracki ng for Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. Once completed, the facility will serve as a welcome and community center as well as a special needs recreation and education center, accommodating the needs of individuals with all levels of disabilities and abilities in a setting th at incorporates a host of environmentally friendly features.

The Walton Group has been hired to serve as the architect, designer and LEED Professional for the project. Vertegy, a St. Louis-based sustainability-consulting firm, will act as The Walton Group's consultant.
