Klobucar & Findorff Team to Build Beloit College Center in WI

Klobucar Construction Co., Beloit, Wis., and J.H. Findorff & Son, Inc., Madison, Wis., have formed a construction team to build the $31-million, 106,000-square-foot Beloit College Center for the Sciences.

Groundbreaking on the building, designed by the Chicago architectural firm of Holabird & Root, will come this spring.

Occupancy of the building is scheduled in time for the 2008–2009 academic year.

Klobucar Construction Company, Inc. is a general building contractor that specializes in industrial, commercial and institutional construction.

Findorff, which has offices in Madison and Milwaukee, specializes in educational facilities, municipal and governmental buildings, corporate offices, hotels, and health care facilities.

The team brings to the project experience in environmentally sensitive construction.

Beloit College has made a commitment to meet national green building LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards. The sustainable design and construction of the new center amplifies the Beloit College's mission while supporting its tradition of innovative teaching and learning.

The building's design, construction and life-time of operation are designed to make a minimal draw on non-renewable resources and give high priority to respecting the physical environment.

The integrated building design maximizes natural daylight, energy-efficient heating and cooling, and water conservation. Fully monitored energy, water, heat, and air handling systems will provide real-time performance monitoring and analysis.

Construction materials will maximize local, renewable and recycled materials that contribute to healthy indoor air quality.

The project will include a green and growing roof and landscaping that emphasizes native plantings and water efficiency.
