Is it time to update the definition of “smart growth”?

It’s been at least a dozen years since a group of organizations adopted a shared set of “smart growth” ideas, but what have developers, architects, and designers learned during that time and are they incorporating those ideas to their work? The National Resources Defense Council looks into the idea of smart growth and reevaluates the concept.
