The Willow School in Gladstone, N.J., reached its LEED Platinum goal with the help of a Follansbee TCS II roof. The new 13,000-sf building, known as “the barn,” is part of the school’s second phase, and houses a middle school, a dining facility, a science center, and a performing arts center. The TCS II roof adds to the building’s sustainability by collecting rainwater and using it to flush the school’s toilets. The durable, low-maintenance roof also helped the school meet its goal of constructing a “100-year building.” Made with architectural stainless steel and coated with ZT (zinc/tin) alloy, the material does not need to be painted and has surpassed 22,000 hours of ASTM salt spray testing with no rust. The Willow School also used a TCS II roof for its first phase of construction, which helped that project earn LEED Gold.
