Firestone Building Products releases 2013 sustainability report

The GRI Guidelines set out principles and indicators organizations can use to measure and report their economic, environmental and social performance.

August 26, 2014
Firestone Building Products Company, LLC, a leading manufacturer and supplier of a comprehensive “Roots to Rooftops” product portfolio, announced today the release of its 2013 Sustainability Report. The second annual report reviews the company’s manufacturing and business processes, as well as its product portfolio, to measure the effectiveness of corporate social responsibility efforts.

Firestone Building Products created the report to assess its commitment to working with internal and external stakeholders to be a more environmentally friendly business. To reach its goals of lowering energy consumption, waste and emissions, the company has set goals to:
  • Adjust and adhere to more sustainable manufacturing processes that benefit employees and residents of neighboring communities.
  • Develop and manufacture environmentally friendly products for commercial and industrial construction.
  • Inspire employees to be “green” at work and in their communities.
The Firestone Building Products Sustainability Report fulfills the requirements of the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) Application Level C. GRI is a network-based organization that has pioneered the development of the world’s most widely used sustainability reporting framework and is committed to its continuous improvement and application worldwide. The GRI Guidelines set out principles and indicators organizations can use to measure and report their economic, environmental and social performance.

“Sustainability is top of mind at Firestone Building Products, as it is across all Bridgestone Americas subsidiaries. Whether it’s in the plant or office, we are committed to bettering our green practices year after year,” said Tim Dunn, president of Firestone Building Products. “Our focus on continuous improvement allows us to identify opportunities to enhance our sustainable processes and programs. This annual report demonstrates our company-wide pledge to being more environmentally friendly, and holds us accountable to our goals.”
