Building Design+Constructionis looking for ‘Great Solutions.’ We want to know how your AEC firm solves really tough problems for clients and business users.

The best Great Solutions will be featured in the December 2011 issue of Building Design+Construction. Each Great Solution entry that is published will receive a $50 Amazon gift card.

Submittal information

‘Great Solutions’ can cover a wide range of topics: how you overcame a difficult technical problem in a project; how a new product or technology aided your work; how you introduced a new business procedure that saved time or money for your firm – or for your clients; how you improved work flow or gained efficiency.

Your ‘Great Solution’ entry should tell a compelling story:

  1. What was ‘the problem’ you faced (be explicit, give details)?
  2. What was your ‘Great Solution’ to the problem?
  3. What were the ‘results’ of implementing the solution (e.g., reduced costs, energy savings, improved client satisfaction, better workflow, time savings)? You must give quantitative data, but you may also include ‘qualitative information,’ such as a quote from a satisfied client.
  4. What “prescriptive advice” would you give to others from your experience? What could you have done better? How will you apply your Great Solution in future projects or in your work (or your firm’s work)?

Entries must be limited to 300 words in length and must include at least 1 publishable image (e.g., high-resolution photo, rendering, chart/table), although 2-3 additional hi-res images would be recommended, if feasible.

Deadline for entries: October 21, 2011
