DLR acquires two more firms

DLR acquires two more firms

August 11, 2010

DLR Group Managing Principal, Jon Pettit recently announced the acquisition of two key design firms to the DLR Group organization. The acquisition of Becker Winston in Philadelphia, PA and Newman Cavender & Doane in Denver, Colo., initiates the beginning of an acquisition process that has been outlined to further strengthen the company’s design experience and client service in local and national markets.

The addition of Becker Winston provides DLR Group a leading Philadelphia design firm with historical preservation capabilities, which will allow the firm to expand their Northeast U.S., reach and supplement their other practice areas nationally. With increased need and affordability, historic preservation is becoming a desirable resource around the country and DLR Group wanted to have that expertise to serve their client’s needs. “Traditional strengths of both firms have been amplified by this acquisition,” states Jon Pettit. “This is part of our aggressive growth strategy in tune with our strategic plan. Our goal is for each newly acquired office to double its revenues in two years.” This strategy will continue in several markets throughout the nation including Florida, California and Texas as the firm looks to new partnerships with leading design firms interested in becoming part of DLR Group.

Newman Cavender & Doane of Denver, now DLR Group Newman Cavender, offers a wider geographic reach to DLR Group and adds design talent to its Corporate and Interiors practice nationally. The addition of the Denver office allows DLR Group to have a larger regional presence in Colorado and provides increased local service to its Rocky Mountain clients. Newman Cavender & Doane was responsible for the design of the Denver Newspaper Agency that houses both Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News and Principal; Steve Newman’s experience in juvenile facility design strengthens DLR Group’s leadership and ranking as the number one Justice design firm in the world.
