By December 2011, construction materials are projected to cost up to 6% more than the same month last year. Real estate development has yet to fully recover since the economic recession, encouraging contractors to perform jobs for less charge despite having to pay more for materials.
Additionally, experts are concerned that a pattern is emerging—the price of materials in December 2010 was 5.3% higher than the same month in 2009.
