Construction under way for Concerto, $224 million Downtown L.A. condominium project designed by DeStefano Partners

LOS ANGELES—February 4, 2009—Concerto, a three-building, $224 million mixed-use condominium project that covers 100,000 square-feet in Downtown Los Angeles, is currently in the first phase of construction.  This phase will house 348 units, shared between one 30-story tower and a smaller seven-story loft building.  Master planned and designed by DeStefano Partners, a full-service architecture, interiors and urban design practice, the collection of buildings is currently ahead of schedule, with the first of two phases slated for completion by fall 2009.  The on-site residential sales center for both phases of Concerto is set to open in January 2009.

            Concerto is located at one of the gateway entries into Downtown Los Angeles, spanning 900 Figueroa St., 901 Flower St. and 700 9th St.  Upon completion, the development will consist of two, 30-story residential towers with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and operable windows in each unit as well as one mid-rise residential loft building, with 27,000 square feet of ground level retail space.  Concerto will feature over 600 condominium units, enclosed parking, two public urban parks and a raised terrace with a private pool and fitness center.

            DeStefano Partners has been involved in every aspect of the design and construction of Concerto, from the design and documentation of the shell and core to project management and technical coordination of all consultants’ work. 

            DeStefano Partners’ design team includes Douglas Hanson, AIA, design principal and Duane Sohl, AIA, technical principal.  Concerto’s LEED team included CTG Energetics, Inc., Christopher A. Joseph & Associates, and Rocky Mountain National Institute.

            The Structural Engineer for Concerto is Englekirk Partners, the Mechanical Engineer is Donald F. Dickerson Associates and the Civil Engineer is Hall & Foreman, Inc.  Additional consultants for the project include: Melendrez and Olin Partnership, Craig Lawson & Co., Shen Milsom Wilke, The Mobility Group, Schirmer Engineering Corporation, GeoPentech, HNA/Pacific, Edgett Williams Consulting Group, Inc., Fisher Marantz Stone, Haas Consulting Group, PH. D, Applied Storytelling and Magnuson & Company.
