Building materials manufacturer Lafarge opens joint compound plant in Silver Grove, Kentucky

HERNDON, Va., Feb. 17, 2009 - Lafarge North America Inc. announces that it has begun operation of its new state-of-the-art joint compound manufacturing plant in Silver Grove, Ky.

This fully automated plant is adjacent to Lafarge's Silver Grove gypsum wallboard plant. The new plant will produce the complete range of Lafarge's current joint compound product offerings including; Rapid CoatĀ®, Classic CoatĀ®, Rapid CoatĀ® Mid-Weight, Rapid DecoĀ® and the new Rapid CoatĀ® Low Dust compound.

"We are very excited to have a joint compound plant to serve our customers in the greater Mid-West.Ā  The addition of this plant helps us to become a full service provider to our customers throughout much of our trading area" said Stephen DeMay, Vice-president of Sales.Ā  "This plant will improve our value to customers by offering a larger suite of products to meet their needs."

Lafarge offers a full line of quality wallboard and finishing products for commercial and residential construction. Lafarge wallboard plants are located in Silver Grove, Palatka, Fl. and Buchanan, N.Y. with joint compound plants located in Chambly, Quebec and now Silver Grove.
