This brick and masonry course discusses the general concepts of masonry bearing wall design, including structural systems and empirical and analytical design.

After taking this two-hour course, you will:

Understand the general concepts of masonry bearing wall design, including various structural systems as well as empirical and analytical design.Know how the combined action of the floor, roof, and walls in resisting applied load affect masonry bearing wall structures.

Existing industry information has been assembled and correlated into a single, concise, and complete reference. Two sources used in the development of this course have been publications of the Brick Institute of America and the National Concrete Association, especially the BIA "Technical Notes" series and the NCMA "TEK Bulletins."
