Bluebeam releases PDF Revu 9, new “eXtreme” edition

March 25, 2011

Bluebeam released the newest version of its PDF mark-up/management software this week. Bluebeam PDF Revu 9 and its first premium edition, Revu eXtreme.

Major changes for AEC users include the ability to batch-produce PDFs from DWG files thanks to a new AutoCAD plug-in and optical character recognition, a patent-pending technology that makes text from a PDF selectable and searchable. Previously, PDF programs such as Bluebeam simply recognized their files as images, making text in its digital documents unsearchable.

I’ll have a full Revu of PDF Revu 9 (CAD edition) in the May issue of BD+C.

The new visual search options in Bluebeam PDF Revu 9 can detect words and symbols specified by the reviewer.
