• Report: CAD industry will grow 15% in 2008.Despite the current economic downturn, the CAD industry is forecast to continue its growth streak this year by increasing 15%, according to Jon Peddie Research's 2008 CAD Report. The company says continued growth is driven, in part, by smaller businesses investing in new technologies to improve processes and efficiencies.

• BIM manager is a 'must have' position, says Graphisoft's Gallello. Dominic Gallello, president and CEO of Graphisoft, says building information modeling (BIM) managers are the new “must have” for AEC firms. The difference between CAD managers and BIM managers is a focus on collaboration, integration, and synchronization on a project, Gallello said in a recent AECBytes Viewpoint (www.aecbytes.com). He added: A BIM manager can be “a fundamental member of a model-based design process.” The resulting “streamlined workflow provides architects more time for design, more value for clients, and more profit.”
