French Alliance turns a former printing facility into its Miami “bureau”

McGowan Builders, Coral Gables, Fla., served nonprofit Alliance Française de Miami as general contractor for construction of its new facility in Miami, known as the Alliance Française Village. The $3.1 million project encompassed the renovation and conversion of a 5,000-sf, one-story warehouse and a 6,000-sf, two-story industrial building, as well as a 5,000-sf addition. The renovation and revitalization project transformed a former printing facility and an adjacent property into a cultural and educational center that houses 14 classrooms; reception area/lobby atrium; library; bookstore; large multipurpose and event space; offices; two meeting/break rooms; catering kitchen; and a retail component with six tenants, including a French café and a travel agency. Other Building Team members include the Miami office of architect/engineer HOK, MEP engineer SDM Consulting Engineers and structural engineer Bliss & Nyitray Inc., both of Coral Gables.
