South Florida transit-oriented development gets city approval





Atlanta-based developer York Residential has received approval from Deerfield Beach, Fla., to build Deerfield Station, a transit-oriented development with office, retail, hotel, and housing components. Construction of the $180 million mixed-use development, which is adjacent to the Deerfield Beach Tri-Rail commuter rail station, is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2009. Designed by Dorsky Hodgson Parrish Yue of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the development includes three residential buildings with 467 market-rate and 82 workforce units, 36,000 sf of office space, 14,500 sf of ground-level retail space, a 140-room hotel, and two garages with 1,146 parking spaces.
