First 'universal' apartment project finished in St. Louis

Trivers Associates of St. Louis worked with local developer McCormack Baron Salazar to design 6 North Apartments, the nation's first large-scale housing development to incorporate universal design principles. All 80 units of the complex, as well as its common spaces and corner coffeehouse, are fully accessible by both the able-bodied and the disabled. Barrier-free entries, open floor plans, front-loading washers and dryers, adjustable-height counters, and rollout shelves are among the universal design features.
