Golden condo tower to rise in downtown Philly

N ext spring, construction work will commence on Philadelphia's newest condo tower, Parkway 22, a sleek, 37-story glass-and-steel tower that will offer panoramic views of the city. Designed by Burt Hill, Washington, D.C., with Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, Boston, as structural engineer and New York-based Tishman Construction as CM, the $250 million, 700,000-sf development will include 254 condos in the tower, as well as 30 lofts in a six-story loft building, and 12 townhouses. The mix of building and unit types is designed to complement the surrounding residences while also creating a building of “international scale,” says the Burt Hill firm. Underground parking is topped by park space with trees, lawns, and benches. A pool, spa, restaurant, and retail space round out the amenities in the development, which is set to open in August 2010.
