• The architecture unit of engineering company Stantec Inc. recently acquired Toronto's Murphy Hilgers Architects, a 55-person firm specializing in healthcare, justice, and retail/commercial facilities, and purchased the assets of Moore Paterson Architects, a 17-person firm in Victoria, B.C.

• New York City-based engineering and construction firm Parsons Brinckerhoff has named Keith Hawksworth CEO. The firm has 10,500 employees worldwide. Hawksworth most recently served as COO of the firm's 6,000-person International Operations segment.

Richard D. Hayes , AIA, director of architecture in the Chicago office of pb2 Architecture and Engineering, Rogers, Ark., has been elected an officer of the firm with the title of VP. Hayes joined pb2 in July 2006 when the firm opened its Chicago office.

• Omaha, Neb.-based DLR Group has opened a full-service design office in Lincoln, Neb. The firm hired local designer John Badami, AIA, NCARB, to manage the office. Badami is president of the Lincoln chapter of the American Institute of Architects and has operated his own firm in the city since 1996.

Structural Preservation Systems , a Baltimore-based specialty contracting firm, has opened an office in Long Island, N.Y.

• Bellevue, Wash.-based MulvannyG2 Architecture has hired Scott Douglas as principal with the firm's growing corporate mixed-use design team, which leads all of MulvannyG2's corporate, mixed-use, hospitality, and multifamily residential projects throughout the U.S.

• Dallas-based architect and interior designer Corgan Associates has promoted three employees to VP: Susan Smith has been named a VP within the firm's school design group; Mary Hart is a VP for Corgan's Corporate Architecture Team; and Tina Larsen has been named VP of Corgan Technology Services.
