Food manufacturing plant gets LEED Gold

Kettle Foods's new 73,000-sf potato chip manufacturing plant in Beloit, Wis., has earned LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Green features include: collection and reuse of wastewater for general plumbing needs, such as toilets; extensive daylighting; installation of 18 rooftop wind turbines that will generate enough energy to produce 56,000 bags of potato chips each year; converting used cooking oil into biodiesel; and use of Green Seal-rated materials and finishes. The Building Team included Madison, Wis.-based Affiliated Engineers.
