Plymouth State University's newly completed Langdon Woods residence hall is the first college dormitory in New Hampshire to receive LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Designed by the Boston office of Cannon Design, the 114,000-sf structure was purposely designed to be tall and narrow to take advantage of daylighting and preserve surrounding natural water features.
Other environmental elements include the use of recycled and local materials, energy- and water-conserving fixtures and systems (including dual-flush toilets), and heating and hot water generated using waste heat from the university's co-generation plant.
