Union Park, a $6 billion mixed-use center in downtown Las Vegas, will combine nine million sf of residential, retail, medical, office, hotel, and civic space primarily for use by the city's residents and workers. The center will include the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute, a neurodegenerative disease research and treatment center designed by architect Frank Gehry; the Smith Center for the Performing Arts, the city's first performing arts center, designed by David M. Schwarz; and the World Jewelry Center, a one million-sf space designed by Altoon and Porter Architects for the gem and jewelry trade. Union Park is being developed by the City of Las Vegas and Newland Communities.
