GID Urban Development Group, Boston, has announced plans to develop a pedestrian-focused mixed-use neighborhood in downtown Houston. Regent Square will encompass 24 acres of inner-loop property and include buildings designed by Robert A.M Stern Architects, New York, Aponwao Design, Miami, Hartman-Cox Architects, Washington, D.C., and B&D Studio, Parma, Italy. David M. Schwarz/Architectural Services, Washington, D.C., is the master design architect for Regent Square and is working with local firm Morris Architects.
The project's first phase will accommodate 230,000 sf of retail and restaurant space, 60,000 sf of office space, and a 200-room boutique hotel. Future phases will add another 100,000 sf of commercial space and another 1,000 residential units. Completion: 2010.
