Chicago gets another condo tower

Leopardo Construction, Chicago, has been awarded the general contract for the construction of an 80-story, 900,000-sf mixed-use condo/retail tower on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue. When completed in 2010, Park Michigan will reach 855 feet and rank as one of the city’s 10 tallest buildings. The tower will include 376 residential units and 35,000 sf of retail space, including a 9,000-sf restaurant, a grocery store, and a spa. The 376 units will consist of one- to four-bedroom condos ranging from 700 to 3,000 sf. Lower levels will be comprised of six units each narrowing to two units per floor at the top. Amenities include landscaped decks, green roofs, indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center, and 470 condo parking spaces. Chicago-based Pappageorge/Haymes is the design architect.
