The team of Breennan Beer Gorman Architects and Tandem Architects has designed the Siam Kepinski Hotel & Residences in Bangkok. The hotel, due for completion in 2008, combines modern linear and vertical expressions with traditional Thai design elements such as louvered shutters, Thai lanterns on the façade, and stepped parapets on the towers. A large entry court, garden wing, and 19-story tower of hotel rooms and apartments are surrounded by a swimming pool that circles the perimeter to create an "island garden" accessible by small bridges. Located between the Sra Pathum Palace and the Pathumwanaram Temple, the 300-room tower had to meet strict height limitations and massing requirements.
