DOE debuts online resource center for energy codes

The U.S. Department of Energy has launched the Building Energy Codes Resource Center, an online resource that links users to the latest information on energy codes and energy-efficient construction techniques and technologies.

The website offers detailed content on commercial and residential construction topics ranging from how to design a cool roof to demonstrating energy code compliance for site-constructed glazing systems.

The website is a clearinghouse for content from DOE's Building Energy Codes Program, Energy Star, ASHRAE, New Buildings Institute, and other industry sources. Users can research topics by category or keyword, and can access BECP's energy code compliance software, COMcheck. The site also includes a tool that calculates the savings from installing high-efficiency rooftop air conditioners.
