The $90.5 million Frederic C. Hamilton addition to the Denver Art Museum, scheduled to open October 7, will add 146,000 sf to the museum, nearly doubling its size. That will make the Denver Art Museum the largest such institution between Chicago and Los Angeles. The titanium-façade building is marked by 50,000 additional sf of gallery space and a 2,800-sf auditorium.
Architect Daniel Libeskind worked in a joint venture with Davis Partnership Architects of Denver on the design. It is the first Libeskind-signature building to be completed in North America. The project also includes 56 condominium units designed by Libeskind. M.A. Mortenson Co., Minneapolis, is the general contractor on the project.
