Studio Gang Plans Its First High-Rise Tower in Chicago

Jeanne Gang, principal of Studio Gang Architects and one of Chicago's rising design stars, recently unveiled the design of her first high-rise residential development. The $300 million, 83-story tower, dubbed Aqua, is planned for a location near the city's Grant Park.

The more than 1.9 million-sf project also includes a hotel, offices, retail, and parking. The building is being developed by Magellan Development Group and Near North Properties, with Loewenberg and Associates as architect of record. (All firms are based in Chicago.) Construction is planned to start this fall, with completion slated for 2009.
