Dorm will have Aeronautical Students Gazing at the Sky

To better compete with off-campus housing options and relieve a campus housing crunch, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla., recently announced plans for a four-story, 280-bed residence hall. Designed by the Jacksonville, Fla., office of JSA, the 76,000-sf facility will complement the existing student village, with a brick-and-stucco exterior and oversized windows to bring more light into rooms. The building layout will consist of suites that include two separate double bedrooms and a shared kitchenette, shower, and toilet facilities.
The dorm will be built adjacent to Daytona Beach International Airport, providing students with unique views of the tarmac. Glass-enclosed study lounges on each floor and a rooftop observation deck will provide excellent views of incoming and outgoing aircraft.
