Secure Consulate Complex Planned in Mumbai, India

Washington, D.C.-based URS Corporation broke ground on the U.S. Consulate Complex in Mumbai, India. URS was selected by the U.S. Department of State to design and build the $81 million consulate project, expected to be completed in late 2008. URS previously designed the State Department's standard embassy design, which has been or is being built in more than 20 sites around the world. The SED will be the design standard for the Mumbai complex. The Building Team also includes the Tata Group, the firm's Indian partner and the largest industrial construction company in India. Renderings of the complex have not been released to ensure embassy security.
