California African-American Museum to be Expanded

A team from the Los Angeles office of HGA Architects and Engineers has been selected to design an expansion for the California African-American Museum in Los Angeles's Exposition Park. The $23 million project will expand the museum from 45,000 sf to 100,000 sf and include the creation of a "Color Wall," a 28-foot-high, perforated metal wall with inscriptions by African-American artists. The Building Team includes Charleston, S.C.-based Huff + Gooden Architects as design associate and Toronto-based museum planner LORD Cultural Resources. Completion is slated for 2008.
