Graves-Designed School will Serve the Disabled

The new 99,000-sf, $32 million St. Coletta's School in Washington, D.C., was designed to serve students with autism, mental retardation, and multiple disabilities. National Medal of Arts-winning architect Michael Graves is design architect for the project, which will include five houses designed around the specific needs of the students living in them. Special features include a hydrotherapy room that facilitates learning to walk and a handicap-accessible kitchen facility where students will learn to prepare their own meals.
