Reciprocal licensing could help Louisiana

I am writing to you to share an idea that I sent to Governor Blanco of Louisiana—an idea that could make a significant difference in the recovery process in New Orleans and other hard-hit communities.

Professionals (architects, engineers, and other professions as well) who are registered to practice in other states, but not Louisiana, could be enticed to travel to Louisiana at an appropriate time to participate in the rebuilding effort, if their current professional license were recognized as valid by the state of Louisiana.

Reciprocal licensing granted by the state of Louisiana during these times of great need could bring necessary human and professional resources to bear on the reconstruction of areas devastated by Katrina.

Frank J. Lucatelli , Architect, Kalamazoo, Mich.
