After 45 years of quibbling over the ideal location for its new high school, town leaders in Everett, Mass., have finally agreed on a site for the Everett High School. The $64 million facility, which broke ground in May, will be constructed on a hilly, five-acre site. HMFH Architects, Cambridge, Mass., adapted the design to the sloped site, placing the front entrance on the first floor and the rear entrance on the fourth floor. The project also includes athletic facilities, a library/media center, a 1,200-seat auditorium, and a health center for students and families to be operated by the local hospital. General contractor Suffolk Construction and construction manager R.F. Walsh Co., both based in Boston, plan to complete the school in fall of 2007.
