Tacoma Convention Center, Tacoma, Wash.

Building team prepares sub packages for bidding

As design development winds down and site preparation continues, the city is working with the building team to prepare subcontractor bid packages.

According to Dave Brueggman, project manager with architect of record Merritt+Pardini, Tacoma, a bid package for the primary structural steel work will go out to bid July 23, while the mechanical work will be out for bid by December. Also, says Brueggman, the construction documents are set to be completed by March 2003.

Client establishes Web cam to help track project

Union Pacific Corp. has established a Web cam tool on its Web site, enabling employees and customers to track the construction of its 1.1 million-sq.-ft. headquarters building.

The Web cam (www.uprr.com/newsinfo/index.shtml ) provides two aerial views of the job site, which encompasses one city block in downtown Omaha.
