  • AISC launches three steel design education webinars, starting on SteelDay, September 18

    (Chicago, IL) – Three live, interactive steel design webinars will be offered this fall by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). The first live webinar is planned for SteelDay on September 18 from 10:30 a.m. to noon (CST); this inaugural event will be free of charge and presented by AISC Vice President and Professor Emeritus at Penn State University, Louis F. Geschwindner, on the relevant topic of Design for Stability.

    The live webinars are an extension of AISC's full-day in-person seminars and eLearning opportunities, ideal for architects and engineers who want to stay current on pertinent industry subjects from the convenience of their office while earning Continuing Education Credits (CEUs). Participants can access the live webinar presentations using an internet and phone line connection and will have the ability to submit questions to the presenter.

    The remaining live webinar schedule is as follows:

    October 22, 2009: Welding – Special Applications by Duane K. Miller, Sc.D., P.E., Manager, Engineering Services, The Lincoln Electric Company, Cleveland.

    December 10, 2009: Introduction to Seismic Steel Design and the AISC Seismic Provisions by Thomas A. Sabol, Ph.D., S.E., Principal, Englekirk & Sabol Consulting Structural Engineers, Inc., Los Angeles, CA.
