  • Autodesk pledges not to change Navisworks programs

Jeff Yoders, associate editor -- Building Design & Construction, 9/24/2007 1:37:00 PM

San Rafael, Calif., software giant Autodesk purchased Sheffield, England-based Navisworks for $25 million in July. Known for its BIM collaboration programs such as Jetstream, Navisworks programs are known for being able to translate data created in any BIM program. AEC Solutions VP Jay Bhatt recently assured users that Autodesk does not plan changes such as making Jetstream and other Navisworks only work with other autodesk programs.

“We will do everything we can to keep Navisworks solutions the same as customers have grown accustomed to,” said Jay Bhatt, senior vice president Autodesk AEC Solutions. “It’s a wonderful model mediation product and we’re not going to change that and make it only work with Autodesk formats.”

Bhatt said Autodesk will continue to use the Navisworks brand and continue to use product names such as Jetstream. He also said the Autodesk AEC group is looking into further acquisitions and planning to aggressively expand its product portfolio.
