American Marazzi Tile, U.S. subsidiary of Marazzi Group, announces acquisition of wholesale service centers

February 11, 2011

American Marazzi Tile, Inc., U.S. subsidiary of Marazzi Group, today announced the acquisition from Interceramic Group of six wholesale service centers located in Phoenix, Arizona; Anaheim and San Diego, California; Denver, Colorado; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Salt Lake City, Utah.  These branches will be transitioned within four to six months into Marazzi Tile & Stone wholesale service centers

“A prime tenet of our business plan is to always explore new channels for growth and take advantage of opportunities to increase market share,” Gianni Mattioli, President and CEO of Marazzi USA affirmed, “and this acquisition reinforces our strategy of manufacturing top quality tile to service the U.S. market.”

“Marazzi Group continues to be a very competitive player in the U.S. tile marketplace. As the market improves we should be in a strong position to capitalize on opportunities within both commercial and residential markets,” continued Mattioli as he confirmed this significant step was made possible by Company success during the last few years in spite of very difficult market conditions.

Marazzi has a strong presence in the tradition of tile manufacture.  Marazzi Group, headquartered in Sassuolo, Italy, has been producing high-quality porcelain and glazed ceramic floor, wall and decorative tile for over 75 years.  Marazzi USA has been domestically producing tile at the Sunnyvale, Texas facility for nearly 30 years.  In addition, a manufacturing plant in Florence, Alabama as well as a second plant in Sunnyvale produce strong, aesthetically-pleasing porcelain tile.
